You may have heard about ‘browse rank’ by Microsoft to compete with Google’s page rank.
Google’s Page rank is a calculation by considering many factors whereas browse rank has been calculated with two following points.
- How many peoples visits the page
- How long they stay in the page
A detailed research on browse rank given by Microsoft is in the following link (PDF) Click Here. I am sure that you don’t have patience to read all those points.
I have given the graph below on which they have mentioned the search performance between page rank and browse rank.
Microsoft tech guys are very sure that browse rank will improve the search performance. I do have some minus points in browse rank search algorithm.
- Websites like video sharing sites could have highest browse rank and will rank for all related keywords.
- Website containing less but effective information may get harm.
