Creating user and SE friendly website structure is an art
Website concept design is really very interesting than any other tasks. Concept design decides how users and search engines are going to use the website. So we have to pay more attention for concept design.
Prepare the list of pages that you want to have in your website. Classify the pages into three priorities i.e., first, second and third priority.
First Priority Pages
Let’s say Home, Technology, Application and Contact pages are our three (Main Categories) important pages. Let’s have these things in header which are called transparence links. Transparency links nothing but the pages that can accessible from all pages of the website.
- Normally search engines, will give more importance to these pages.
- In all websites, you can see these pages having more PR than other pages.
- Be sure in giving the cache, relevant and specific content in these pages.
- These pages should be reachable in one click from any page in the website.
- Give 1.0 as priority for these pages in XML sitemap
- Optimize these pages with high competition keywords.
Second Priority Pages
Sub categories for technology and application are considered to be the next priority pages. (Technology- Quick Start, CD Basic, Reference etc) (Application – Internet, Network, OrgChat)
- Obviously, it will be having less importance from search engines than the first priority pages.
- Application and Technology subcategory pages will list under the corresponding category pages.
- Increase these pages visibility by having link in relevant pages.
- These pages should be reachable in two clicks from any page in the website.
- Give .80 as priority for these pages in XML sitemap
- Optimize these pages with slightly less competition keywords, since it is having less number of internal links. (If you want to optimize with high competition pages, then get more inbound links from other websites)
Third Priority pages
FAQs, tutorial pages (less importance, since it’s a service oriented website) and reference pages etc can be consider as third priority pages.
- Search engines will give last importance to these pages.
- Increase these pages visibility by having link in relevant pages.
- These pages should be reachable in three clicks from any page in the website.
- Give .65 as priority for these pages in XML sitemap
- No need to optimize these pages with keywords for search engines. More over we don’t want to rank our FAQ pages for our service oriented keywords.
Funnel Pages Optimization
Navigation for conversion in your website should be very clear. “Buy Now or Order Now or Request for Quote” links should be visible in all pages.
- Include tracking code in these pages to track conversion
- These pages should be accessible in one click from all the pages in website
- Take your visitor to a thank you page after the conversion.
Others
- Be sure to use search box which helps users to get their desired content quickly.
- Use website sitemap where all the pages are listed in hierarchy
If you follow all the aforesaid points, you will be enjoying the following benefits
- Right pages for right keywords in SERP.
- Increased number of conversions
- Visitors stay in your website
